Highlight

The participants will get an opportunity to render a couple of compositions along with 'Trichur Brothers' during their concert on Friday, 27th September 2024 at Gandhi Bhavan.

Workshop fees

  • Registrations will be accepted on first come first served basis.
  • The fees for this two day workshop is $225 per participant.
  • Cancellations will be accepted one month before the workshop after which registration fees are not refundable.
  • Last date to receive registrations and workshop fees is 20th September 2024

Carnatic Music Workshop (Advanced)

Who it will be beneficial for:

Advanced Students / Teachers / Concert Performers

What will be covered:

  • Few rare compositions.
  • Voice Culture & Voice Usage to meet the demands of long practice hours, concert performances and recordings.
  • Gamakas,Brighas and related concepts.
  • A walkthrough on how to learn a composition thoroughly, covering the minutest details.
  • Manodharmam / Improvisational Singing - insight into
    • Raga Alapana
    • Neraval
    • Kalpana Swaras & Kanakku/Korvai
  • Basics to Manodharmam - the proven algorithm
  • Ragam, Tanam, Pallavi - The concept and how one can evolve in this space.
  • A guided session of listening to a yesteryear doyen's recording, how to learn/ imbibe aspects from their approach.
  • Q & A session.

Eligibility:
If you are able to understand and visualize the depth into which the above mentioned points are drilling down, then you are eligible to be apart of this segment.

Takeaway:
Beyond learning a few compositions and learning a few concepts, this workshop intends to set a slightly more long-term goal. The idea is to tune you into a routine of effective practice methodologies to gear you up and make you a more efficient practitioner of this Art Form.

Carnatic Music Workshop (Beginners)

Who it will be beneficial for:
Beginners / Listeners / Casual Singers / Anyone with interest in the Art Form and wants to try and learn more

What will be covered:

  • Four to Five compositions which are not overly complex, but at the same time, are great additions to your singing list.
  • Basics - How to practice effectively, how to get the right voice projection and how to make minor adjustments.
  • A quick look into the art of listening to a Carnatic music concert.
  • Essential introduction to manodharamam.
  • Q & A Session.
  • Interactive & knowledge gaining activities.

Eligibility:
Anyone and Everyone, as long as you have the interest and the panache to learn. Beginners / students who are approaching the end of geethams and stepping into learning Varnams/Krithis will find this session very useful.

Takeaway:
In depth understanding of the compositions along with tips to integrate practice methodologies into your daily practice routine for a more efficient singing experience.
